Polish. Original Boxed Auschwitz Cross

Polish. Original Boxed Auschwitz Cross

$100.00

HISTORY. Polish Auschwitz Cross was instituted by order of the Polish State Council on March 14, 1985 and awarded to former prisoners of Auschwitz and other Nazi concentration camps. It ceased to be awarded in 1999. The red enamel triangle represents the symbol that Polish prisoners wore on their uniform. Having personally been to Auschwitz, you can never begin to understand the magnitude of the depravity until you’ve stood where “they” stood.

Constructed of silvered bronze, with red enamel and a blue & white stripped ribbon. Reverse says in Polish, “People's Republic of Poland to prisoners of Nazi concentration camps”. The medal did not come in a presentation box or case, but in a simple box that was commonly mailed to the former concentration camp prisoner which is included in this offering.
