China. Army Officer Dagger (Doolittle Raider Bring Back)

China. Army Officer Dagger (Doolittle Raider Bring Back)

$375.00

HISTORY. This Chinese Army Officer Dagger was brought back to the US by Lt (later Brig. General) Richard A. Knobloch, Co-Pilot on the #13 B-25 to launch off the aircraft carrier USS Hornet, April 18, 1942 as part of the famed Doolittle Raiders. After bombing the Yokosuka Naval Base in aircraft, Tail # 40-2247, ”The Avenger”, the crew all successfully bailed out of their fuel starved aircraft over China. Brig. Gen Knobloch gave the dagger to his care giver just prior to passing away on August 13, 2001 and was buried in Ft Sam Houston National Cemetery.

The dagger has a brass wrapped handle & cross-guard. The push button catch works as designed. The blade is nickel plated steel 8 3/4” long and the entire dagger is 12 7/8”. Small amount of rust in one area of the blade. The scabbard is in excellent condition, the only exception is a small screw is missing from the chape (finial guard). Unbelievable piece of history. Excellent+.
