HISTORY. Night of the Long Knives, in German history, purge of Nazi leaders by Adolf Hitler, June 30, 1934. Fearing that the paramilitary SA had become too powerful, Hitler ordered his elite SS guards to murder the organization’s leaders, including Ernst Rohm. After the purge, it was ordered that Rohm’s inscription on all SA & SS daggers be removed and of course, anyone ignoring the removal order risk execution. Not surprisingly, the order was quickly adhered to by 99.9%, making a “Full Rohm” inscription dagger very scares and highly sought after by Germany collectors.

This exceptional example of a Full Rohm Inscription Dagger using early solid nickel and made by a rare marker, makes this a collectors dream. The lower reverse crossguard is stamped with the Gruppe marking, “BO”, from Bayerisch Ostmark (south central Germany). The grip is MINT. The crossguards and pommel nut are in excellent condition with only the slightest scratches. The blade is mirror bright with only a few drag marks. There is some small corrosion on the obverse ricasso. On the reverse ricasso is the stamp of rare maker “J.A. Henckels, Solingen, Zwillingswerk” (Henckels is still in operation today). The scabbard is straight and its near MINT anodized steel body is accentuated by the beautiful solid nickel mounts that are MINT. Overall near MINT.
