HISTORY. The 109th Regiment was activated in 1877, so it has a rich history that spans WW1, WW2 and the Iraq Wars. It’s decorations include the Presidential Unit Citation, French Croix de Guerre with Palms (WW2), the Luxembourg Croix de Guerre and many more. The ribbon running through the eagle’s beak has the units motto in Latin, “Cives Arma Ferant”, meaning - Let the Citizens Bear Arms. Every item on the standard is full of history.
