Germany. Hitler Youth (HJ) Winter Service Cap
Constructed of heavy black wool. The cap is fully surrounded by fold-down side panels, scalloped at the front, providing optional ear and neck protection to the wearer. When not in use, the panels are rolled up and secured in place at the front with a magnetic buckle and secures to a magnetic metal-reinforced eyelets on the opposite strap. Pinned onto the peak of the cap is a HJ insignia, constructed of bronze with multi-colored enamels. Affixed with a vertical pinback, the insignia is marked on the reverse with a Reichszeugmeisterei (RZM) logo and maker code “M1 / 105” for Hermann Aurich, Dresden, Germany. Completing the exterior features is a protruding cardboard-reinforced visor, fully lined in identical wool. The interior is encompassed by a black rayon-blended liner. Light soiling on the exterior and moderate wear in the liner.
