Germany. Luftwaffe M-40 Helmet found at Arnhem
HISTORY. This excellent Luftwaffe M-40 Combat Helmet walked into a Ft. Worth Gun Show about 10 years ago. I finally decided to share this with the rest of you. The veteran who brought the helmet to the gun show said he picked it up in Arnhem, Holland, April 16, 1945, which is exactly what he wrote on the top of the helmet the day he picked it up (see picture).
All original & complete M-40 helmet with a Luftwaffe eagle decal that rates a 95%. The chin strap is missing the last few inches, but that still leaves 8 buckle holes. Under the rear of the skirt is stamped “T501”, and under the skirt on the left side is stamped “Q62” for maker Quist. Be sure to checkout the last picture were the vet wrote Arnhem, Holland, April 16, 1945. A real piece of history!
