WW2 US Navy Leather Flight Helmet AN-6540.  Constructed with smooth soft brown leather outer shell and very soft goat leather inside.  The AN-6540 is the US Navy version of the AN-H-16.  Factory installed rubber ear cups (no headphones), padded neck strap and additional buckles.  Labels are inside stating, “Large” size and “CONTRACT NUMBER N288s-21428, SLOTE & KLEIN” (see picture).  All straps and snaps are intact. Rear-top of helmet has black U.S.N. (see picture) sharply impressed. showing only the slightest of storage wear, age & soiling.  UNISSUED. This piece of aviation history is MINT.
