HISTORY. France created the Croix de Guerre Medal in 1915 and it was awarded in both WW1 & WW2consists of a square-cross medal on two crossed swords, hanging from a ribbon with various degree pins. The decoration was first awarded during World War I, again in World War II. Awarded either as an individual award or as a unit award to those soldiers who distinguish themselves by acts of heroism involving combat with the enemy.

This medal shows light to moderate wear. Heavy patina on the obverse. Ribbon shows fading. Great history and awarded to numerous U.S. WW2 veterans.
