HISTORY. Following WW1, the Treaty of Versailles called for the SAAR to be demilitarized, but administer by France for 15 years. In January 1935, the residence of the SAAR voted overwhelmingly to rejoin Germany. This badge was obviously created to show support & encouragement to the residence of the SAAR leading to the January 1935 vote.

Constructed of stamps bronze alloy. The script on the badge reads, “Dem SAARvolk Aufs Neue Treus um Treue” (translated: Loyalty after Loyalty to the SAAR people). Reverse has vertical pinback. Near MINT.
