HISTORY. Instituted July 14th, 1942, awarded for Gallantry and Merit for Members of the “Eastern People”.

Constructed of gold wash on top of silvered zinc on a fixed loop and ring for suspension from its period original ribbon. All the gold wash is gone, since the gold wash doesn’t adhere to the base silvered zinc. Rare item, since the story goes that the Wehrmacht ran low on these and put a few hundred of the silvered ones into the gold wash. Another interesting piece of history.
