Very nice detailed pommel and the vast majority of the gilt remaining. Likewise, the crossguard shows nice detail and again most of the original gild. The wood base grip has an excellent celluloid cover with a tightly wrapped twisted brass wire. The scabbard is very nice with a couple of dents on the obverse, however they don’t interfere with the free movement of the blade. Also, the scabbard is missing the two brass side screws just below the throat, which causes the blade to be a little loose within the scabbard. Finding replacement screws will easily take care of that issue. The blade shows slight graying around the ricasso and several minuscule nicks (you really have to look for them) to the blade. On the reverse ricasso is the makers mark of Eickhorn. Overall a very nice Naval dagger at a great price!
