Germany. SS. Officer Police Degen

$1,225.00

HISTORY. This SS Officer Police Degen was taken from a SS police guard at Mauthausen Concentration Camp by Sgt. Bill Cieply, member of 11th Armored Division who liberated the camp the first week of May 1945. In addition, Sgt. Cieply brought back from the camp a SS Police NCO Degen, a Lugar (with a Totenkopf expertly mounted on both side of the grip) & the most beautiful SS Dagger you have ever seen.

This Police Officer's Degen is in outstanding condition, looking to have been worn only a few times at best. The nickel plating throughout the "D" guard is still bright and in excellent condition. The pommel has knurled edges with no signs of wear. The upper portion of the pommel retains a bright finish. The "D" guard passes through the crossguard and ends in a teardrop. The ferrule is a beauty, with six standing oak leaves. The ebony grip is perfect. It is tightly wrapped with matching nickel wire. In the obverse center is a recessed copper Police eagle insignia, which retains full detailing throughout. The scabbard shell is straight throughout. It has excellent original black paint, showing only slight wear. The blade is a full mint example, being most beautiful throughout the 31 ½ inch length. This mint blade is stamped with the Alcoso, Solingen and the standard scales logo. The original brown leather washer is in place. Police swords made by Alcoso were not SS proofed. If you are looking for an outstanding example this piece is it. Near MINT.
